Submissions

If you have a 500-1,000 word post, article, essay, poetry, or short fiction you'd like to publish in Weaver's Deep Thoughts newsletter, please pitch it using this form. I'll use the email you provide to accept or reject your pitch. And don't sweat it, I'm actually really chill, just have a good idea.

Topic suggestions: the craft of writing, LGBTQ issues, racism, transgender rights, women’s rights, feminism, technology, social media content moderation, mental health, literature and media, etc.

Short fiction and poetry: any genres welcome. Include trigger warnings and genre with submission, as I’d like to include that for the readers.

Exclusivity: Six months. I’m not a fan of exclusivity at all. But I do want us to get the most mileage out of our efforts. Six months publication exclusivity will allow us time to promote the writing with a single link and see how it faired in terms of analytics and feedback from readers. After that, you can and probably should publish it elsewhere (your own newsletter, blog, eBook, etc.) to preserve a copy of your own. I do not own your writing, you do, and platforms come and go. Let’s make sure we preserve your writing.

Editing: I’m serving as editor for the newsletter, so I will edit for grammar and such. I try really dang hard to maintain the voice of the author — I believe in that. I also may inject some fancy formatting to spruce up your piece before publication (probably not with fiction and poetry). I will give feedback, if I have some. I’m not an expert though.

Payment is $0.05 per word. A 1,000 word piece will be $50, for example. That is all I can afford for the moment, it comes out of my personal budget. It’s just something I really want to do to wet my feet editing and helping writers.

If you are still here, use the form below to pitch an idea for the newsletter.
